Dalton, Georgia is where my story begins. A small town known for its carpet industry, where hardworking families live paycheck to paycheck. I grew up there, graduated summa cum laude from Dalton State College, earned my law degree from Georgia State University, and founded The Awad Law Firm in Atlanta. But I never forgot where I came from. That is why we established the Awad Law Firm Scholarship at Dalton State College.
Why Dalton State Matters to Me
Dalton State was the foundation of everything I have built. It was there that I competed in 250 martial arts tournaments across the Southeast and developed the discipline that carried me through law school, the district attorney’s office, and building a firm that has recovered over $60 million for injured clients. Many students there are first-generation, from immigrant families, working full-time while attending classes. I know what that feels like because I lived it.
The Same Values Drive Our Legal Practice
We fight for people up against powerful institutions, whether that means an insurance company lowballing an injury claim or a financial barrier between a young person and their degree. We have secured a $900,208 jury verdict in Cobb County, turned a $1,000 offer into $250,000, and recovered $2 million in a wrongful death case. We fight hard because we remember what it means to need someone in your corner. The scholarship is part of our broader community commitment alongside MIST Atlanta sponsorship, constitutional rights workshops, and the 150-turkey holiday donation through City of Refuge.
